Focus and Scope
The journal is an excellent resource for students, professors, public health professionals, medical doctors, dieticians, nutritionists, and the general public for information regarding the latest advancements for promoting optimal health, reducing the risk of chronic/viral diseases, and managing their symptoms using bioactive compounds.
When we investigate bioactive compounds from the perspective of functional foods, these compounds are defined as the following: "food bioactive compounds are primary and secondary metabolites of nutritive and non-nutritive natural components generating health benefits by reducing the risk of chronic and viral diseases and managing their symptoms." The main goal of this journal is to develop research in order to better understand bioactive compounds and how they can help manage the symptoms of chronic and viral diseases.
In October 2021, BCHD was accepted into the Scopus indexing database. All past and future articles will now be indexed in Scopus.
We are accepting article submissions for our upcoming article release. Please refer to our guidelines for article submissions:

Possible article topics include:
- Bioactive compounds in health and disease (i.e. Prebiotic and probiotic compounds, Sterols, Minerals, Vitamins, Anthocyanins, Anthocyanidins, Caffeic acid, Dietary Fiber, Flavonoids, Flavonols, Flavones, Isoflavones, Lipids, Omega-3 fatty acids, Organosulfur, Phenolic acid, Polyphenols, Phytochemicals, Phytoestrogen and more).
- The effects of bioactive compounds on biomarkers of chronic diseases.
- Promotion of optimal health, reduction in the risk of chronic/viral diseases, and the management of their symptoms using bioactive compounds.
- Current research and development of bioactive compounds.

Bioactive Compounds in Health and Disease has been indexed in the following databases: Scopus, Index Copernicus, CrossRef, and Google Scholar. The BCHD journal has been indexed in Scopus since 2021 with a current CiteScore of 3.5 (Calculated on 05 May, 2024).
All articles from 2018 on have been accepted and indexed within Scopus. The acceptance into Scopus shows the strength of the journal and the authors as well as helps to expand the reach of our published articles.
